If you expected an SSL expiration alert but didn't receive one, here are the most common reasons and how to troubleshoot them:

1. SSL Monitoring Not Enabled

  • Check Domain Settings: Ensure that SSL monitoring is actually enabled for that specific domain in your Portfolio. Go to the domain's detail page and verify the SSL monitoring toggle.
  • Monitoring Type: SSL monitoring is only available for domains in your Portfolio (domains you own), not for domains in your Watchlist.

2. Incorrect Reminder Intervals

  • Verify Alert Settings: Go to the domain's detail page and check your "SSL Reminders" settings. Did you select the appropriate intervals (e.g., 30, 60 days before expiration)? If no intervals are selected, no alerts will be sent.

3. Certificate Already Expired / Invalid

  • Too Late? If the certificate has already expired or become invalid before our next check or before your reminder interval, you won't receive a pre-expiration alert. You might still receive an alert indicating the certificate is now expired.
  • Solution: Proactively set reminders well in advance (90, 60, 30 days) to prevent this.

4. Domainyze Couldn't Reach Your Server

  • Website Down? If your website or server was unreachable (offline, firewall blocking, incorrect DNS) when Domainyze attempted its SSL check, it wouldn't be able to retrieve the certificate and thus couldn't assess its status.
  • Solution: Ensure your website is consistently online and accessible.

5. New Certificate Not Yet Installed/Propagated

  • If you recently renewed your certificate, but it hasn't been properly installed on your web server, or if a CDN is still serving an old cached version, our system will still detect the old/expired certificate.
  • Solution: Verify your certificate installation using an external SSL checker tool (like SSL Labs) and clear any CDN caches.

6. Email Delivery Issues

  • Even if the alert was sent, it might have been blocked or redirected by your email provider.
  • Solution: Check your spam/junk folder and ensure noreply@domainyze.com is whitelisted. Verify your email address in your User Settings.

7. Temporary System Glitch

  • While rare, temporary glitches can occur.
  • Solution: If the issue persists, and you've checked all the above, please contact support with the domain name and details of the expected alert.
